ANNA SOHN

Korean soprano, she studied singing at the Milan Conservatory. She also studied with Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto as well as with Olaf Bär in Dresden. In 2004 she won the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest and in 2011 she won the second prize at the 61st ARD International Music Competition. Since 2018, she has been a permanent member of the Dortmund Opera. She has sung such roles as Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Liù (Turandot), Brunhilda (Frédégonde), Violetta Valéry (La traviata), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Mimì (La bohème), Héléna (La Montagne Noire) and the title role in Jules Massenet’s Manon. She has performed at numerous renowned opera houses and festivals, including the Teatro Regio (Parma), Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto), Teatro Verdi (Sardinia), Tonhalle Zurich, Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore), Seoul Arts Center, Milan Auditorium, Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome), Malmö Opera. This is the second time she performs at the Greek National Opera, as in 2023 she sang Cio-Cio-San in Olivier Py’s production of Madama Butterfly (Odeon of Herodes Atticus).
