Leonardos Batis

Born in Athens, in 1972. He studied theatre at the Morfes Drama School of the Embros Theatre and holds a BSC Management and Systems Science degree from the City University of London. He also studied traditional clarinet under Giorgos Kotsinis as well as jazz improvisation at the Athenaeum Conservatoire. As an actor, he has collaborated with many directors, participating in productions in Greece and abroad. He has directed the performance Mother Silence, the electronic cabaret which was staged at the Zephyros cinema in Athens. In 2015, he created the music group Klezmer Yunan, aiming at the interpretation of songs through the prism of tragedy by making recordings, live performances, dedicated concerts and video animations. In 2021, he created the workshop "yf", which is located within the building complex of the former Athens Knitting and Weaving Mills in Votanikos, aiming at researching and producing theatre, focusing on play, dialogue and music as fundamental elements of theatre practice.
