Julia Souglakou

Greek soprano, she studied voice, advanced music theory and piano at the National Conservatory. She continued her opera studies in London with Vera Rózsa under the guidance of Christos Lambrakis (Maria Callas scholarship). She studied with Aris Christofellis and Dimitris Yakas. She made her debut at the GNO in 1994. Since then, she has sung numerous leading roles such as Nedda (Pagliacci), Elvira (Ernani), Maria (Simon Boccanegra), Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Anna Bolena, Musetta (La bohème), Freia (Das Rheingold), Leonora (Il trovatore), Santuzza, Lucia (Cavalleria rusticana), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Gioconda (La Gioconda), Mother (Il prigioniero), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Ortrud (Lohengrin), Kostelnička (Jenůfa), Brünnhilde (Twilight of the Debts), Madelon (Andrea Chénier). In addition, she has performed leading roles in operas by Greek composers. She has repeatedly worked with the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls in operas, oratorios and symphonies and has performed as a soloist with the most prestigious ensembles in Greece. She has given numerous recitals, has cooperated with international festivals and has participated in chamber music concerts, films, dance theatre performances, and radio and television productions.
