TATIANA WERESTCHAGINA

Born in Russia, she studied musicology and history of music at the Moscow Conservatory and currently is active as musicologist, dramaturg and translator. She contributed as an author to the Cambridge Stravinsky Encyclopedia and was the first to translate Harry Graf Kessler’s diaries into Russian. She has worked with Dmitri Tcherniakov as a dramaturg on productions including Das Ring des Nibelungen (2022) and Tristan und Isolde (2018) (Berlin State Opera), Der fliegende Holländer (Bayreuth Festival, 2021), Der Freischütz (Bavarian State Opera, 2020), Elektra (2021) and Salome (2023) (Hamburg State Opera). She has authored numerous essays on opera history and music theatre for academic publications as well as programme books for renowned opera houses, including Bavarian State Opera, Bolshoi Theatre, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Opéra national de Paris, Dutch National Opera (Amsterdam) and La Monnaie in Brussels.
