MICHAEL HOFSTETTER

German conductor and academic, he has been a guest conductor at numerous opera houses and festivals for over thirty years, including Houston, London, Copenhagen, Oslo, Toronto, Hamburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Munich, Paris, Salzburg Festival, Karlsruhe Handel Festival, Halle Handel Festival and Styriarte, Graz. Most recently as music director in Giessen, he previously shaped the Orchestre du Chambre de Genève, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and the Styriarte Festival Orchestra as chief conductor. He has released over thirty CDs and DVDs, including some award-winnings, on such labels as Sony, Deutsche Grammophon and Oehms-Classics. Michael has been a professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany, and since January 2020 he is the artistic director of the International Gluck Festival in Nuremberg. This is the first time he conducts at the Greek National Opera.
