PAOLO CARIGNANI

Italian conductor, he studied composition, organ and piano at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and later conducting with Alceo Galliera. Ηe has conducted major productions in prestigious opera houses and festivals worldwide, including the Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, San Francisco War Memorial, MET, Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Covent Garden (London), Opéra Bastille, Oslo, Brussels, Antwerp, Glyndebourne Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, Rossini Opera Festival. His symphonic repertoire leads him to work with renowned orchestras worldwide. Ηe was General Music Director of the Frankfurt Opera and Director of the Frankfurt Opera House and Museum’s Orchestra (1999-2008). He has conducted worldwide premieres from Mozart to bel canto, till Verdi and verismo, with new creations and first modern performances of rare operas. He has recorded CDs and DVDs for major labels. He has an intense concert activity, notably with major orchestras in Japan, where he is regularly invited. In 2023 he conducted for the GNO Nabucco at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
