ROBIN TEBBUTT

British director, he studied music and drama at Birmingham University. He has been staff director at Glyndebourne Festival Opera (1987-1991) and Welsh National Opera (1993-2008), where he directed productions in repertoire, including La traviata, Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci, Rigoletto, Carmen, Madama Butterfly, Jephtha, Così fan tutte, Kát´a Kabanová, Béatrice et Bénédict. He also directed Tippet’s New Year for Glyndebourne Touring Opera. As associate director for Sir David Pountney, he has directed revivals of Simon Boccanegra (Prague), Guillaume Tell (Warsaw, Geneva), Figaro Gets a Divorce (Poznan, Geneva), La forza del destino (Lisbon) and Un ballo in maschera (Bonn). As associate director for Katie Mitchell, he has directed revivals of her productions of The Way Back Home (Paris, Stockholm), Jenůfa (Grange Park Opera), Lessons in Love and Violence (Amsterdam, Lyon), Trauernacht (Paris, Amsterdam, Lyon), Alcina (Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow) and Miranda (Cologne).
