Victor Arditti

Born in Athens. Stage director Victor Arditti has been professor of theatre directing at the School of Drama of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki until 2020. He studied in Athens and Paris, and trained with Antoine Vitez and Yorgos Sevastikoglou, as well as at the Schaubühne of Berlin. He founded the company Theatro tou Logou and was co-founder of the alternative cultural centre Fournos in Athens. He worked as director and producer in radio programmes. In collaboration with Maya Lyberopoulou, he established the Theatriko Analogio in 1987 and founded the Theatre of Patras in 1988. He was artistic director of the National Theatre of Northern Greece (2001-04), and studies advisor of the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece (2007-13). He has worked in Greece, Italy and France, given talks and written about theatre, and recently translated important theatre studies books into Greek. He has directed more than 50 classical and contemporary plays in state and municipal theatres and independent theatre companies, with a particular interest in opera and contemporary music theatre.
