Eric Schneider

Hailing from the beautiful eastbound surroundings of Cologne, Eric Schneider studied mathematics and piano. After first awards at competitions and a beginning solo career, he discovered his affinity for Lied; subsequently he decided to take lessons with Hartmut Höll. Seminal impulses for his development he received from Paul Badura-Skoda, Alfred Brendel and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Particular thanks he owes Elisabeth Schwarzkopf – the lessons with her generated a deeper comprehension of musical stylistics. In the 90s, he studied conducting in Berlin with Rolf Reuter. Among his numerous recordings, there are Winterreise and Apparition with Christine Schäfer, Die schöne Müllerin and Wanderers Nachtlied with Matthias Goerne, as well as Sirènes and Behind the Lines with Anna Prohaska. A solo CD includes works by Leoš Janaček, Ludwig van Beethoven and Robert Schumann. He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, La Scala and Tokyo Opera City. He lives in Berlin and teaches Lied at the University of the Arts (UdK).
