Miguel Henry

He is a renowned lutenist specialising in Renaissance music, but he also plays a variety of early plucked string instruments, including the theorbo, cittern, and Baroque guitar. With a strong theoretical background in composition, analysis, and music history, he has performed as a soloist in prestigious concert halls such as Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Opéra Comique, the Salle Richelieu of the Comédie-Française, etc. He is regularly invited to perform with various ensembles, such as Doulce Mémoire, L’Achéron, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien and Ensemble Pygmalion. As a composer, he collaborates with Raphaël Pichon to reconstruct and complete early musical works such as L’Orfeo by Luigi Rossi, Miranda by Purcell, and L’Ercole by Cavalli. His compositions can also be heard in concerts (Magnus Eroticus at GNO), radio broadcasts (Toprak and Iphigénie on France Culture), and theatre productions (Péplum Médiéval). In 2023, he founded the ensemble Les Présences and recorded his first album Utrique Fidelis as conductor and composer (EnPhases label). He also teaches lute at the Conservatoire Francis Poulenc in Tours, France.
