Mélanie Flahaut

Born in 1981 in Rouen, Normandy, where she grew up in a family of musicians. She studied the recorder with Nadine Levillain, who introduced her to the rich world of early music. At the same time, she took numerous classes at the Conservatoire de Rouen, including bassoon, piano, composition, theory, and analysis. After completing her baccalaureate and her full curriculum at the CNR of Rouen, she moved to Paris to specialise with Jérémie Papasergio on the bassoon, Jean Tubery on diminution, and Pierre Hamon on the recorder. Later, she joined the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where she studied with Conrad Steinmann and Claude Wassmer. She obtained her diplomas in Baroque and Renaissance bassoon and recorder in 2006 and 2008, respectively. She specialises in early music, especially Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, and integrates her instrumental practice with a focus on historical and organological research. Her practice ranges from Renaissance repertoire to classical orchestral music, including various consort, song, chamber, and orchestral formations. She regularly performs with the ensembles Correspondances (Sébastien Daucé), La Cappella Mediterranea (Leonardo García Alarcon), and the Lunaisiens (Arnaud Marzorati).
