Penny Rizou

Greek soprano, she was born in Melbourne, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Edu- cation as a Music Major from Melbourne University and a singing diploma from the Athenaeum Conservatory, Athens, with Marina Krilovici. She continued her studies with Verka Stogiannidou. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Greek National Opera Chorus, performing, among others, in such productions as Il tabarro, Le grand Macabre, Tosca, Rigoletto, etc, as well as the role of Lucy (The Beggar’s Opera). Moreover, she sang the Bird in Christos Giannoulis’ opera for children Peter in the Woods (Day Theatre, Athens, 2016/17), Anna (The Rake’s Progress, Union Theatre, Australia) as well as arias from oratorios at the Melbourne Concert Hall. She continues to perform and teach voice as well as musical theatre.
