Announcement: Audition for performers for the production of "Strella"

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Greek National Opera announces an audition for performers for the production of Strella which will be presented in January - February 2023.

The audition will take place on Monday 31 October 2022 at the GNO Alternative Stage at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centrer (364 Syngrou Ave.) between 17:00 and 20:00 hours.

The audition is intended to select all three trans woman roles in the work (Strella, Mary, Vilma) and is aimed at trans women performers of any vocal category and age with acting and vocal skills. The final musical text of the performance will be adapted depending on the vocal profile of the performers selected. Familiarity with reading music will be helpful.

Participants are invited to perform a song of their choosing from any type of music and optionally an excerpt of an operatic or classical song. Moreover, they will be asked to interpret a short excerpt from the work which will be sent to them by email after the application to participate in the audition is submitted.

For the purpose of learning that excerpt, the GNO will provide participants who so wish with the option of a one-hour music preparation meeting with associates before Wednesday 26 October 2022.

The Auditions Panel has the discretion to cut short the auditioning process and the auditions may be video-recorded for archival purposes.

Candidates who reside abroad or in the provinces and cannot be physically present will be permitted to participate online via a specific platform at the audition dates and times.

The selected candidates and corresponding roles will be announced on the GNO website.

Interested parties should fill out the relevant application form (see here) and submit a CV with a photograph. Moreover, interested parties should fill out the attached consent form (see here). Before filling out this form, please consult our CV Policy which is attached at the end of the announcement. Application forms not accompanied by the said information will not be accepted. The GNO undertakes to ensure that the personal data of applicants is kept strictly confidential. Only the necessary persons within the GNO who are authorised to do so and no third party shall have access to applications.

This announcement replaces the announcement of 29 September, 2022; as a consequence, the audition originally announced for 14 October is postponed and will take place on 31 October, 2022.
