Every movement produces a sound. In Georgina Vardoulakis’ workshop, children transform their bodies into percussion instruments and learn tap dancing. They combine different movements, primarily using hand tapping on the body and foot tapping on the ground, to create a beat, rhythm, and polyrhythms. This process helps in constructing phrases and complete musical compositions. Tap dancing, a form of body percussion with Afro-American origins, emphasizes footwork and is an integral part of the jazz culture. A workshop that feels like playing.
