BRIEF BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Chalandri

Τhe Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Chalandri was founded in 1954. Their goal is to actively engage in the city's music scene, enhancing the community's cultural and intellectual growth. It consists of highly skilled musicians and has participated in events both within and outside the Municipality, receiving many awards and honours. Depending on the repertoire's needs, the Orchestra forms various musical ensembles from its members, such as the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Music Ensembles, a Greek Traditional Music Orchestra, Big Band, and others. Furthermore, the musicians take part in free educational seminars provided by the Municipality of Chalandri, aiming to introduce young people to the instruments of the orchestra, instrumental techniques and the functioning of a musical ensemble. The Philharmonic Orchestra has a wide-ranging repertoire, with a particular focus on Greek music. It has participated in festivals in Greece and abroad and has collaborated with acclaimed conductors and world-class soloists. Conductor Kostas Ioannides is the Orchestra's artistic and musical director.
