The distinguished pianist Giorgos Konstantinou presents a unique programme dedicated to three piano works from the late period of composer Morton Feldman. The concert, lasting approximately three hours, highlights the great American composer's pioneering approach to 20th century music, with the qualities of indeterminacy and duration that characterise his work creating the conditions for an atmospheric experience of deep concentration and reflection.

 

 

 

BRIEF BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Giorgos Konstantinou

Born in Athens, Greece, in 1978. He graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and received his Master's degree (Mmus) with honours in 2002. He received a doctorate in Performing Arts (DMA) from the University of Timişoara in 2021 on the piano music of composer Giorgos Koumendakis. He has played extensively abroad, collaborating with several orchestras and artists. His output is focused on late 20th and 21st centuries composers' music such as György Ligeti, György Kurtág, Iannis Xenakis, Georges Aperghis, Nikos Skalkottas, George Tsontakis, Panayiotis Kokoras, Giorgos Koumendakis, Morton Feldman, John Cage, Pierre Boulez, etc. His trademark performances include semi-improvisational, kaleidoscopic creations which combine older and contemporary musical fragments put together under a strong extra-musical concept. He is the host of the daily radio broadcast "Melodic Adventures" on the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation. He hosts the Cohilia Festival, an international arts summer festival in Northern Euboea, Greece.
