Biographies 40

Nikos Greek bass-baritone. He studied music and opera
singing at the Conservatory of Classical & Contemporary
Masourakis Music of Amarousion and received his diploma in
harmony with first class honours, as well as a diploma
in opera singing with first class honours and first prize.
Calchas Moreover, he holds a degree and diploma in Byzantine
ecclesiastic music from the Diapason Conservatory.
He has been an extraordinary member of the GNO
Chorus and member of the ensemble of the GNO Opera
Studio, taking part in various concerts and productions.
He has also performed as Count Almaviva (Le nozze
di Figaro) at the Deva Art Theatre in Romania. Since
2016 he has participated in the Music Ensembles of the
Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation as a chorister. He
has attended seminars with world-class artists such as
soprano Marina Krilovici and bass Dimitri Kavrakos. At
the 2019 Festival of the Aegean he performed as the
Wigmaker in Ariadne auf Naxos and as Belcore in L’elisir
d’amore. He holds a degree from the Department of
Political Science and Public Administration (NKUA) and
speaks English, German and Italian.

Marialena Greek soprano, she studied piano with Nelli Semitekolo
at the Athenaeum Conservatoire and opera singing with
Politi Sonia Milenković. She continued postgraduate studies in
opera on a scholarship from the Slovenian government
at the Music Academy of Ljubljana under Alenka Drnač-
Bacchis Bunta. She attended seminars with Aris Christofellis,
Margarita Lilovic, Dunja Vejzović, Kurt Equiluz, Cheryl
Studer, Elizabeth Vidal, Hanneke de Wit. She has
collaborated with the Greek National Opera, Thessaloniki
Opera, Opera of Neo Psychiko, Athens State Orchestra,
Fons Musicalis Choir, etc. She has also been a member
of the Bach Choir of The Netherlands under conductor
Pieter Jan Leusnik, giving numerous performances,
including at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She
worked as a soloist with The Fat Lady Operagroup under
conductor Tamir Chasson, and for many years she has
taught at a conservatory in the Hague. She is a graduate
of the Law School of Athens and the Department of
Pedagogy and Primary Education of Athens.
