Change in cast of Don Carlo

It is announced that the role of Don Carlo in the production of the same title will be interpretwdwdwd by internationally acclaimed tenor Marcelo Puente. Tenor Bryan Hymel has cancelled his appearance for personal reasons.

It is announced that on Saturday 5 October, the Greek National Opera Box Office at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will be closed between 09.00 - 17.00, due to security measures at the premises in relation to the visit of the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.

 

Presale of the Greek National Opera September to December 2019 production will start on Friday 2 August 2019.

It is announced that, due to illeness, the soprano Ekaterina Siurina will not be able to perform the role of Violetta Valéry in the performanceof La traviata, on Wednesday 31 July. The role will be performed by the soprano Maria Mudryak.

On Wednesday 17 July 2019, the Greek National Opera Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis announced the programme for the 2019/20 season, in a press conference held at the Stavros Niarchos Hall in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

On Monday, 1 July 2019, at the GNO Ballet Studio, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, it was decided by the ballet committee that the following three (3) dancers are selected to cover the artistic needs of the GNO Ballet:
