1,500 free tickets to unemployed individuals for the dress rehearsal of La traviata

The Greek National Opera is offering 1,500 free tickets to unemployed individuals for the dress rehearsal of Giuseppe Verdi’s widely popular opera La traviata on Friday 26 July 2024 at 21.00 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

For a ninth consecutive year, the Greek National Opera offers our unemployed fellow citizens the opportunity to enjoy a remarkable opera production at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for free, with the goal of making the art of opera accessible to everyone.

The ill-starred love harboured by the “Lady of the Camellias” for Alfredo Germont –as envisioned and set to music by Verdi with powerful melodies– is hailed as one of the most beloved pieces in the repertoire. La traviata comes to life through hundreds of performances every year at opera houses worldwide, captivating the ecstatic attention of thousands of audience members.

The production will be presented for four performances on 27, 28, 30, and 31 July 2024 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus under the baton of the acclaimed Italian conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi, while Konstantinos Rigos, the choreographer and Director of the GNO Ballet, is responsible for the successful direction, sets, and choreography. The stage will feature distinguished soloists of international acclaim from Greece and abroad.

The free tickets for La traviata’s dress rehearsal will be distributed at the Greek National Opera’s Box Office in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (Syngrou Avenue 364, Kallithea / call center: +30 2130885700), on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 July 2024, from 11.00 to 20.00, until all tickets are gone. To claim your tickets, you will need to present your unemployment card / certificate along with your ID card.

It is noted that each unemployment card / certificate holder can receive up to two tickets.
