1,500 free tickets to unemployed individuals for the dress rehearsal of Puccini’s Tosca

The Greek National Opera is offering 1,500 free tickets to unemployed individuals for the dress rehearsal of Giacomo Puccini’s widely popular opera Tosca, on Friday 31 May 2024 at 21.00 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

For a ninth consecutive year, the Greek National Opera offers our unemployed fellow citizens the opportunity to enjoy a remarkable opera production at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for free, with the goal of making the art of opera accessible to everyone.

Tosca, this unique operatic thriller, is the celebrated composer’s opera that most closely adhered to the ideals of verismo, the Italian naturalism movement. It is justly hailed as one of the most famous operas in the repertoire, in which fiery passions are underscored by Giacomo Puccini’s highly evocative music. The production, which will be presented for four performances on 1, 2, 6 and 11 June 2024 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, will be conducted by the celebrated conductor and Artistic Director of the Athens State Orchestra Lukas Karytinos, with direction, sets, and costumes designed by the acclaimed director Hugo de Ana. Responsible for the revival of the direction is Katerina Petsatodi, the Stage Manager of the Greek National Opera. With a starry cast of Greek and foreign world-class soloists in the leading roles.

The free tickets for Tosca’s dress rehearsal will be distributed at the Greek National Opera’s Box Office in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (Syngrou Avenue 364, Kallithea/call center: +30 2130885700), on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 May 2024, from 11.00 to 20.00, until all tickets are gone. To claim your tickets, you will need to present your unemployment card/certificate along with your ID card.

Each unemployment card/certificate holder can receive up to two tickets.
