Meet-and-greet event of the Greek National Opera in New York City.

The GNO in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) organised on Thursday, May 9, 2019 a meet-and-greet event with the participation of Media representatives as well as prominent cultural stakeholders at King Baudouin Foundation’s central offices.

The event included a short presentation of GNO’s activities, the relocation to its new “home” at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s largest single grant to the Greek State. However, SNF’s contribution to the GNO has not only been limited to the construction of its new facilities but it runs through every aspect of its operation. During the event, a presentation of the basic lines of its four-year outreach program took place.

More specifically, the first results concerning the productions and the audience’s reception since the beginning of the GNO’s operation in the new venues at the SNFCC was disseminated. Moreover, a short presentation of the new four-year programming and development plan, supported through a major new grant of €20 million by the SNF to the GNO, was presented to the event’s participants. The plan will reinforce the Organization’s artistic outreach and the promotion of its work abroad.

Representatives from American cultural and education Institutions, artists, journalists and Greek Diaspora attended the event. A short address by Mr. Stelios Vasilakis, SNF’s Chief of Programs and Strategic Initiatives was followed by an extensive GNO presentation by Ms. Maria Anestopoulou, GNO Administrative and Finance Director.

The event was held in collaboration with King Baudouin Foundation United States, a leading resource for philanthropic giving to Europe and Africa, that enables U.S. donors to support their favorite causes and organizations overseas.
