Τhe Philharmonic of the Municipality of Chalandri was founded in 1954. The goal is to actively engage in the city’s music scene, enhancing the community’s cultural and intellectual growth. It consists of highly skilled musicians and has participated in numerous events both within and outside the Municipality, receiving many awards and honours. Depending on the repertoire’s needs, the Orchestra forms different ensembles from its members such as the Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Music Ensembles, Greek Traditional Music Orchestra, Big Band, and others. Furthermore, the Orchestra’s musicians take part in free educational seminars provided by the Municipality of Chalandri. Their goal is to introduce young people to the instruments of the orchestra, instrument techniques, and the functioning of a musical ensemble. The Philharmonic Orchestra has participated in festivals in Greece and abroad, and has collaborated with acclaimed conductors and world-class soloists. Conductor Kostas Ioannidis is the Orchestra’s artistic and musical director.
