Lina Wertmüller’s La bohème is situated in the freezing attics and smoky bistros of Toulouse-Lautrec’s Paris and it seems perfectly at place there. A timeless production that was first presented in Olympia Theatre in the 90’s, Wertmüller’s La bohème manages to stay relevant and moving to the audience even after all these years. For a limited number of performances, shortly before Christmas, the GNO will revisit the tragic story of fragile Mimì and the poet Rodolfo, the same way opera houses all over the world do.
