Georgina Vardoulaki

Tap dancer, body musician and lawyer. She is a graduate of the Law School of Athens and holds a degree in classical piano and music theory. She was born and raised in Chania. At the early age of 12, she was introduced to the world of tap music. Several years later, during her stay in Athens, she focused on rhythmic taps while discovering the world of body music alongside the tap dancer and body musician Thanos Daskalopoulos, with whom she collaborated for many years as a teacher and performer. She has taken part in major festivals by attending seminars of internationally renowned dancers and body musicians. She has collaborated with percussionist and body musician Simone Mongelli as part of the artistic team and project Bodyterranean – The Show. She is the creator of FunkiTap, a group based on the idea “The body becomes the drum set”. She has collaborated with the director and theatre educator Stella Serefoglou composing body music motifs for her theatre performance Tha se parei o dromos, while she has starred for two consecutive years in Avgo, a Megaron – Τhe Athens Concert Hall music theatre production for infants, directed by her, for which she also composed the body music as the production’s central expressive medium. She has collaborated with Kostas Gakis on several occasions, co-teaching in his music theatre seminars, but also as a performer and composer in his productions From Antigone to Medea and The Story of a Dog Named Loyal.
