Manousos Klapakis

Born in 1978, his first contact with music and percussion was through his father, Michalis Klapakis, who was his first teacher. He is a graduate of the Experimental Music High School of Pallini. He studied violin with Giannis Zevgolis, music theory at the National Conservatory of Athens and symphonic percussion with Konstantinos Vorisis and Kostas Theodorakos. He studied daouli with Giorgos Gevgelis. He has participated in music, dance and theatre performances in Greece and abroad in collaboration with POLIS Ensemble, Katerina Papadopoulou and the Anastatica Project (Thessaloniki Concert Hall, SNFCC), Domna Samiou Folk Music Association, Creó Dance Company (Kalamata Dance Festival, Athens Concert Hall, Michael Cacoyannis Foundation), etc. In 2021, he curated the exhibition A Melodic Journey Through the Music of 1821 for the Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments. In the winter of 2023, in collaboration with the choreographer Tzeni Argyriou and the visual artist Vassilis Gerodimos, he undertook the musical curation for the Elefsinian Movement at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture. He teaches percussion and rhythmology in the form of seminars, in conservatories, as well as in theatre and dance groups, with whom he collaborates in performances in Greece and abroad.
