Giannis Papagiannoulis

Born in Veroia. He has been playing percussion since he was 15 years old. He started as self-taught and then studied at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, attending Greek traditional and Afro-Cuban percussion lessons and seminars with prominent artists. Since 2001, he has participated in concerts and recordings of Greek singers and composers such as Haris Alexiou, Eleni Vitali, Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Dionysis Tsaknis, Evanthia Reboutsika and the lyricist Lina Nikolakopoulou. Since 2002, he has participated in concerts of Greek traditional music (Estoudiantina Neas Ionias, Lykeio Ellinidon, etc), jazz and ethnic music (Stavros Lantsias, IASIS, Krotala, Angeliki Toubanaki, etc) and flamenco (Balance, De todas formas, EnContraDos, Ronda al alba, Flamenco aire, Arroyo nuevo, Joaquín Grilo, etc) In 2012, he won second place in the Schlagwerk Golden Cajon Award Competition among 98 participants. In 2015, he became an endorser of the cymbals company Diril. In 2013, alongside Electra Chrysanthou, he founded the Taconeo studio where he teaches percussion and rhythmology.
