Argyro Chioti

Born in Athens. She works in Greece and France as a director and actress. In 2005 she co-founded the theatre group VASISTAS. She seeks stage forms that tend towards poetry, with an intense chorality and physicality, often creating something like musical choreographies in present time, on the theme of man and his existence within a community. She holds a degree in theatre studies and a master’s degree in directing and dramaturgy from the University of Provence in France (2006). She graduated as an actress from the Drama School Morfes of the Embros Theatre (2000). Her most recent productions are Efthimis Filippou’s Big and Small Ships for the 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, Vincenzo Cornaro’s Erotokritos at the State Theatre of Northern Greece, The Boy’s Halepas at Onassis Stegi (co-production with the Theatre Foundation of Emilia Romagna, Italy), Aristophanes’ The Frogs at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus as part of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Efthimis Filippou’s Eau de Cologne (produced by the National Theatre).
