Joseph Papadatos

Born in 1960. He is a composer and professor of composition at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. He has served as President of the department, Dean and Vice Rector of the institution. He studied in Greece and Germany. He has written more than 120 compositions: four symphonies and other works of symphonic music, chamber music, vocal works, compositions for solo instruments, electronic music, a one-act opera, a multi-art work, as well as music for theatre and ancient drama. He has given numerous lectures and seminars on topics related to contemporary music creation, has participated in relevant workshops and conferences, and has taught in conservatory-level education. He has been awarded many scholarships and has repeatedly won prizes in major international composition competitions. He has collaborated with the Third Programme of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation as a producer of music programmes. He has participated as a member and chairman of juries in important Greek and international composition competitions. He is President of the Greek Composers’ Union.
