Opera Interactively Into Schools 10
Greek Over the last years the planning and implementation of
educational and social programmes has been one of the
National Opera main objectives of the Greek National Opera’s programming.
Artistic Among other things, it has been a great challenge for us to
try to introduce opera to as many students as possible all
Director’s over Greece as an art form that can converse with all ages,
note while creating fertile ground for free expression, dialogue, the
cultivation of aesthetic and critical thinking skills, as well as
the development of new perspectives.
This year’s programme Opera Interactively Into Schools
along with Kornilios Selamsis’ work Offenbach’s La belle
Hélène is aimed at teenagers, and I believe that it can meet
the dynamic, the concerns and the challenges faced by
modern-day youth in the most insightful way.
It would be a special joy for all of us here at the Greek
National Opera to contribute to the eradication of
stereotypes often attached to opera as a genre and, through
our programme in schools, to impart the excitement of lyric
art to our students.
I cordially thank all those who contributed to the realisation
of this programme as well as the teachers and students of
the participating schools for their welcoming reception.
