Opera Interactively Into Schools 17
Distance Opera Interactively Into Schools during the school
year 2023/24 will be able to introduce the art of opera
Opera in even more schools, by launching the programme’s
online section.
Education
The students that will take part in it through distance
in Schools learning will have the chance to discover the world of
opera and music theatre through the educational digital
webpage Opera Box that has been designed to offer
users an experiential exploration of the multi-faceted
art of opera and music theatre. It is an innovative
digital education and entertaining setting, targeted
at students and teachers of Secondary Education
and aiming at introducing the school and educational
community to the interartistic world of opera,
enriching music teaching –within and outside standard
artistic education–, as well as connecting the school
community with opera.
A series of original multimedia and interactive materials
will be available as supplementary learning tools for a
more effective participation in the programme.
More specifically, the singular experience offered to
Opera Box users will include an exciting video game
inspired by the performance Offenbach’s La belle
Hélène, entertaining quizzes, an imaginative guide for
creating an improvised school opera performance, as
well as a quick and fan tour from the birth of opera to
the new trends and gendered stereotypes through rich
audiovisual material.
The webpage will also provide access to the film
version of the hilarious youth opera Offenbach’s La
belle Hélène presented by the Greek National Opera as
part of the programme.
Moreover, through webinars, the programme’s
educators will guide teachers through the learning
goals, will enhance the understanding of the work
presented as part of the programme, and will propose
practices for strengthening creative expression in the
classroom as well as methods of creatively using
Opera Box.
